The Tiger Rider Tee: the goddess Durga rides her blue striped cat

October 30th, 2008

Bold and beautiful in a two color foil print, the indie artists says he based his design loosely upon the Hindu goddess, Durga. Durga is said to manifest fearlessness and patience, and is known to be a radiant goddess whose shiny clothing emits fierce rays. I’d say this blue and silver foil print on a black tee is a fine representation of her splendor. The basic black men’s t-shirt is made of 100% ringspun cotton, and is available in sizes small to XXL.

Fabel Braids Stash- Hide your goods in your head

October 29th, 2008

Fabel is a small indie clothing company specializing in hand made hats of the outdoor variety. The company was started by twin sisters Lisa Anderson and Lori Meyer who both share a love for the Northwest and the outdoor lifestyle it inspires. Heck I’m cold inside tonight, so I am wearing my Large Beanie right now as I type this…I’m a fan of their hats. If you are looking for something to cover your noggin while snowboarding or partaking in some winter weather activity check out this stylish Stash hat with it’s secret pocket for…you know, magic beans!

Men’s Cry Wolf Tee: subtle allegiance to Canidae

October 26th, 2008

Brought to you by the Canadian indie designers at Crywolf Clothing, this monochromatic tee is a nice graphical play on words. The design is made of two basic components, a grey hash-marked looking thought or word bubble and a geometrically basic wolf’s head within the bubble on the front of a black t-shirt. Are you a bit of a prankster? Your style can now reflect that whenever you like with this subtle and basic tee. The Toronto based design label is a collaborative effort between artists Rose Chang and Stephanie Drabik, and each shirt is hand printed on a 100% cotton American Apparel blank.

Binarywinter Nevermore- For bright birds

October 22nd, 2008

This month wired magazine listed Crows as “wired” above the tired old smart animals like chimps and dolphins. Information keeps mounting in favor of the intelligence of these birds. We see the murders here in slabtown all the time, they make regular weekly treks through our front lawn foraging the grounds for various scores. This t-shirt from Etsy indie clothing store Binarywinter captures big brother crow in his classic pose. I’m sure you know his quote by now. Nevermore shall we doubt the smarts of these crafty passerines.

Bigfoot vs. Unicorn- The battle rages on

October 16th, 2008

In one corner we have the mythological poster beast of unbearable teenaged American girls swathed in purple, covered in glittering silver stars, stinking of cherry chapstick…Unicorn! Her opponent weighs in at an ungawdly large amount, and was last seen being relentlessly tormented by some jerky eating douchelords. My money is on Bigfoot as it looks like he clearly has the upper hand in this epic battle as depicted on this t-shirt.
