Women’s Yawning Gato Tee: delicious blue yowling cat

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

This bold navy women’s tee with a bright blue yawning (or yowling) cat graphic is full of charm and indie style. Brought to you by the indie design company, Fuzzy Balls Apparel, all available designs were created by artist/owner Roy Wasson Valle. He offers men’s, women’s and children’s apparel. We previously featured his Shezilla tee and were pleased to find a downloadable coloring version of Shezilla available at Fuzzy Balls. We here at Birdfight are smitten with Roy’s whimsical artist stylings. Also of note are his cast resin Los Huevos sculptures - check out El Bastardo, a cyclopean toothy rabbit who would look great in your home.

Plushoff Plush Banana Toy: home-made banana goodness

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

I am totally smitten with this home-made plush flannel banana toy. Maybe I can get one and fill it with catnip for Kingston, thus creating an excuse to own one since I am child free. Brought to you by Etsy seller Plushoff, who is a crafty stay at home mom, she offers a veritable smorgasbord of fun plush possibilities, including bacon and a t-bone steak. Ms. Banana is 10 inches tall and two inches wide, and can be slipped out of her peel as desired. Maybe you have room in your stuffed animal collection for this little yellow fruit.

Giant 6 Foot Ugly Dolls: best pillow ever!

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

It seems that when you miniaturize an object or inflate it well beyond normal proportions, you increase its cuteness by at least 10 fold. Such is the case with this giant Ugly Doll. 6 feet of plush pillow madness makes me think I need one, even if that would mean having a doll/pillow that is taller than I am. It would look smashing at my next tea party, or make a wonderful friend to keep between me and the floor on movie night when lounging is encouraged. Heck, it might be the perfect camping buddy who doubles as a mattress, provided you are not too tall. It appears that there are 6 foot versions of most of the cast of Ugly Dolls, including bop n’ beep and ox. The folks at Calliope warn that availability is very limited, so if you have the extra cash to order one, you will need to contact them directly.

Elsewares Recycled Socktopus: knitted cephalopod

Friday, June 29th, 2007

What child would not love a whimsical and charming stuffed octopus to add to their collection? Each Socktopus is created by recycling sweaters and filling all those legs with hypoallergenic polyester, to make a soft, squishy, boneless friend. Each one is unique, so there’s really no telling what yours might look like when you order, but they do allow you to select a color. Due to the button eyes, the manufacturer recommends this toy for children ages 3 and up.

I am not really sure these cute little buggers will scare off any thieves, but now you can get your favorite Uglydolls in small portable keychain size. Take them with you everywhere you drive and everyone will know you are a fan of the Uglies. We really love the new little Uglyworm…he wants power, like all worms want power.

Robeez Monkey Shoes (toddler)

Monday, March 26th, 2007

If they made these for adults I’d be wearing them right now (tiger model of course). These cute little booties for the little ones from Robeez have a fun happy monkey image on them. They feature a soft leather upper, and elastic band around the ankle to keep them snug on little Curious George.

Even the rug rats got to keep their feetses dry! Now they can do it in true monkey style with these super cute boots from Gabriella Rocha. The pleasing blue and red colors and the adjustable boot strap should make these a big hit in the rainy season.
