MailboxTees.com: a subscription to cool
We at Birdfight would like to thank Karen Merzenich for contacting us and sending some samples from her project, MailboxTees.com. The premise here is unique subscription based t-shirts from a variety of artists arriving on a monthly basis. Fun, full of surprises, and what a great thing to check the mail for! Karen is based in San Francisco, and this venture evolved from her clothing store there – Mila. Mila features items from many independent designers with small production amounts (sometimes even one-of-a-kind items), and her clientele always gravitated to the unique printed t-shirts, often coming back every couple of weeks to check out any new arrivals. All the shirts from mailboxtees are limited edition, and printed on very very comfortable and good feeling t-shirt blanks from alternative apparel. These shirts feel great! Like an old and much washed favorite, and this is before washing. Included with the tee of the month is a short bio about the artist, and sometimes details about the print and what inspired them. No one is making much $ from the venture (you will see prices for the consumer are quite reasonable), but the idea is more about getting new and unusual designs and artists out there and connected with the public.
